Newbury Roofing Specialist in Fascia, Soffits & Guttering.

Fascia, Soffits & Guttering installer.

Guttering is a series of narrow channels forming the component of a roof system which collects and diverts rainwater. The main purpose of a gutter is to protect a building's foundation by channelling water away from its base. The gutter also helps to reduce erosion, prevents leaks in basements and crawlspaces, protects painted or stained surfaces by reducing exposure to water and provides a means to collect rainwater for later use.

The fascia board is the long, straight board that runs along the roof’s lower edge. The fascia is fixed directly to the roof trusses and usually does all the work of supporting the bottom row of tiles and carrying the guttering. This is no mean feat, especially when it is raining hard. In a downpour, the roof of a 3-bed semi could be washing several gallons of water per second into its gutters.

The soffit board is tucked away under the fascia board. It is usually the board that you see the most from street level. The soffit can be ventilated to allow airflow into the roof area. Alternatively, ventilation can be provided over the top of the fascia board. Many people prefer the latter solution these days. Condensation will form in the roof void without adequate ventilation, increasing the risk of timber decay.

The bargeboard is the board used on a house’s gable end. The condition of the bargeboard can often make or break the look of a home, and over the years, it has evolved into some very attractive shapes.

Soffits and fascia enhance your property’s look and are vital to roof construction. They can ventilate the roof voids and keep out nesting birds, bats, and other pests.

Newbury Roofing is an expert in installing high-quality Fascia, Soffits, Gutters, and Bargeboards, with a vast range of styles and colours to suit your home. We can fit traditional wooden soffits and fascia or UPVC, which is relatively maintenance-free.
